Wear Red Day

Today is ‘Wear Red Day’. The idea originated in America, to raise awareness of the extent of heart disease around the world. The intention being that wearing something red can be a wee reminder to us all to evaluate our lifestyle. Then, if there is something we are worried about in relation to our own health we can use this as a prompt to seek advice.
I’m at a stage in life where I do feel I could be doing more to boost my general health and fitness, and so this ties in nicely with my personal goals for the year.
Will you be wearing red today?
How to wear red
You might be a bit scared of wearing red if you normally don’t wear a lot of colour. Especially the thought of wearing it head to toe.
The good news is that red makes a great accent colour for many outfits. It also works well in accessories such as jewellery, bags, shoes, scarves, and belts.
Another easy and inexpensive way to try out wearing colour is with nail polish or lipstick. Explore the variety of shades available and there will be that works for you.
Introducing some colour into your wardrobe is also a great way to boost your mood and sense of well-being. Sadly, it is something we don’t often do enough of at this time of year, as we hibernate in our winter clothes.
Red as a colour has specific connotations and meaning. It and can be described as being vibrant, powerful, fiery and exciting, and can signify strength. Therefore, if you are in a situation where you need to express self-confidence, even when you might not be feeling it, then red is a good colour to wear.
You just need to remember that red comes in many shades so you may want to find out the best ones for your personal colouring. This is something that I cover with my clients during their style confidence sessions. Colour can be daunting but it can also give you confidence when you get it right.

Why not take a moment to reflect on how you are feeling, and reach for some red to energise your outfit and your day?
